For over 85 years, Camps Leelanau and Kohahna have offered quality camping programs that provide young Christian Scientists with an opportunity to learn about their true identity, shed limitations, and deepen their understanding of Christian Science. The Camps continue to operate on the core principles established by founders Maude and Skipper Beals in the 1920’s. Integrity, unselfishness, and a commitment to excellence are reaffirmed each year as components of a successful life. In the nurturing atmosphere at Leelanau and Kohahna, young people learn to value these principles in themselves and others, thus preparing themselves for leadership roles.

The prayerful, financial, and volunteer backing received helps to keep the Camps operating at the highest standard. Camps Leelanau and Kohahna welcome your support for these funds:

Endowment Fund - The Endowment consists of two funds where the principle is protected, and only a portion of the interest income is spent annually. The income from one fund may be used for items such as property or equipment improvements, as well as salary enhancements. The other fund, the Hilton Campership Fund, generates income that is to be used only for camperships.

Campership Fund -This campership fund is used to provide assistance with camp tuitions for qualified families. Gifts to this fund go to camperships for the current summer.

General Fund - This fund provides unrestricted support for operating expenses and current projects.

A thank you gift…
If your Camp experience happened at the Port Oneida location, you most likely have fond memories of meeting by the Big Tree for activities. This past year the tree has “donated” a few limbs to Camp. As the limbs have fallen, Betty Rhoades, a Kohahna fixture herself, has taken them and used the wood to create some unique and beautiful bowls. Those who donate $1,000 or more to the Endowment fund, can request a bowl. Please make this note with your contribution, and we would be happy to send you one, while they last. Bowls vary in size from 3” to 5” wide.
