Bugle Call – Week 6 – 2012
It was a very fun and full week at camp! Here were the campers’ top 6 favorite activities this week, as shared in their highlights at Council Fire: Kohahna Olympics, the Sand Show, Cabin Day, lots of trips, the “Kohahna Games,” and the Zip line!
Morning activities were a blast as usual. There was so much achievement, including campers passing their Expert levels in Riflery and Horseback Riding. Also, Musical Theater was offered as a special morning activity. We loved watching their final performance with scenes from Westside Story.
Evening activities were also some of the campers’ favorite parts of the week, especially Bombardment (Kohahna dodge ball), Zumba (a fun Latin dance workout), and the Kohahna Olympics (where each cabin represented a country and competed for the gold!). The Sand team did an excellent job putting on the Sand Show for the rest of camp, which they performed on Saturday. The theme was the Sand team in Hollywood, and we had guest appearances from Martha Stewart, Adele, Tyra Banks, Taylor Swift, and many others.
This week we were visited by representatives from TMC Youth, who talked to us about the Mother Church, what TMC Youth has to offer, the Manual and Mary Baker Eddy’s provisions for Christian Science youth, and other topics. The two representatives loved visiting camp and seeing the love and joy at camp.
This week was full of awesome trips! A four-day rock climbing trip traveled Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Despite rain, everyone had a blast, and climbing was a brand-new experience for many of the girls. Several fourth- and fifth-graders took an overnight trip to Platte Plains, where they loved playing on the beach and making s’mores. We also took a canoeing trip to the Pine River, a sailing overnight trip near camp, and a horseback riding overnight! The horseback riders even got to sleep in the barn.
It’s hard to believe the last week of camp has already arrived, but we know it’s going to be a great finish to a great summer!
