LOC Program Coordinator
Job Description: The Program Coordinator of the Leelanau Outdoor Center (LOC) works with the LOC Director to develop and maintain LOC’s high standard of programming. This vital position runs school programs, helps manage staff, and supports the Director. This position reports to the LOC Director.
Responsibilities:
Run and manage LOC programming:
Starts each day with the staff by reading weekly Bible lesson early before breakfast
Manages the school group through all transitions of the day
Teaches and facilitates program activities in the morning and afternoon
Manages and facilitates evening programming
Ends each day with clean up and staff debrief
Workday is done after evening programming, clean up, and staff debrief
Create all program schedules
LOC staff training
Help hire LOC staff
Create and manage kitchen schedules
Manage scribe notes and thank you letters
Create and maintain program curriculum
Promote LOC’s social media
Update and maintain LOC Website
Lives on camp and helps to oversee the LOC staff
Help maintain Camp grounds including beginning / end of season chores
Dates of employment:
10-month contract, seasonal full-time starting in January ending at the beginning of November. Starts one week before seasonal training and ends one week after the last program. Time off is granted between seasons.
Approximately:
January – February (10 Weeks)
April – June (10 Weeks)
August – October (12 weeks)
Exact dates to be determined with LOC Director
Pay: $18,600 - $21,600 depending on qualifications and program schedule
(31 – 36 weeks starting at $600 per week)
Benefits: On camp, year-round housing provided
All meals provided during the season
Other benefits may apply after one year of service
Qualifications:
Familiarity with the LOC program, one full year of LOC employment preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Education or Science desired
Practicing Christian Scientist
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
CDL certified or willingness to obtain
Lifeguard certified or willingness to obtain
Other:
A joy for the outdoors
Ability to work well with others
Willingness to receive and give feedback
Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of both children and adults
Leadership and problem solving skills
