Week 1
Twas the night before Campers arrived and all thru the night the counselors were prepping, and they could not wait! Finally, it was Opening Day, the campers arrived and all was right!
What an amazing first week of Camp! As campers arrived to meet their counselors and cabinmates, there were lots of smiles and hugs. Everyone quickly settled into their cabin, making their beds, getting to know each other, and catching up. Council Fire that night was on fire (pun intended) as Mother Nature adorned the new campers with their team colors. Monday morning started with Morning Activities, and in the afternoon the whole camp hopped on Big Blue for the Swim Test. The water and the weather was warm and big milestones were met. Waterfront activities here we come!
This week was full of awesome Evening Activities like Games on the Lawn, Bombardment (yes, the Sky Team won), Wednesday Testimony Meeting, the Chicken Game, and a special event on Friday night where we went to The Leelanau School for Beach Bards, a skit and story filled bonfire. The variety of Evening Activities offered this week allowed for lots of cabin, team, and whole camp bonding. We showed great sportsmanship paired with competitive spirit and a lot of laughter!
This coming week we have TWO big trips going out. The CTs will be canoeing in Canada on the Spanish River and four adventure loving campers will be going to Pictured Rocks up in the Upper Peninsula. Go Trips!!!!!
Despite some rainy days later in the week, we can’t believe the first week of camp is already over! Every day is a full day of joy, fun, and achievement. These campers are killing it! Stay tuned for more as we head into a full second week of camp.
