Week 4

Bugle Call

The four-week session has begun! We were absolutely ecstatic to welcome all of our 2nd session campers to Kohahna on Sunday. We celebrated everyone’s arrival with our classic cookout meal with Leelanau and then Council Fire to start the session off right. Our day and night were filled with lots of hugs, laughter, and singing.

On Monday, we did the Swim Test and everyone got a chance to swim in the water at Bar Lake! The whole camp, even those who had already passed the swim test,  came and cheered on the campers who still needed to swim. It was so awesome to see the support the campers gave to one other! That evening we played the classic first Evening Activity Bombardment! The Pines and Sands were locked in some intense competitions, but the Sky team came out on top as always.

Tuesday we had our first day of a completely normal schedule. That evening we got to play some fun games on the great lawn - which everyone really enjoyed! On Wednesday we had CABIN DAY! There was tubing, trips to Glen Arbor and Leland, camping trips, and so much more. Everyone was very excited to share about their fun day at dinner. Wednesday night church was full of gratitude and healings. On Thursday, our youngest two cabins left to go to the dunes and the rest of the girls got dropped off by the Big Blue Bus for Water Polo! Water Polo was intense as the girls quickly learned how to tackle safely in the water. The Pines pulled through, winning the majority of the games.

Friday we had a Counselor Fashion Show! Each cabin dressed their counselors up in three themes: decades, space, and magic. The counselors' outfits were so fun and we couldn’t stop laughing. We ended the show with a one-song dance party to the iconic song “Everytime We Touch.” Saturday we had our traditional Lip Sync - and the theme was Harry Potter! Hosted by the famous Harry Potter and Hermione and judged by Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Dobby. There were a lot of fantastic Lip Syncs and it comes as no great surprise that TE won!!

On Sunday we played a new activity in the afternoon called “The Poe Cup Challenge!” This was a canoeing/capture-the-flag relay that was based off a competition from the TV show Wednesday. All of the campers and counselors put on their bathing suits and their best costumes representing their team (like the Black Cats and the Clowns for example). Then they began their relay - canoeing and swimming all while also trying to sabotage the other teams, so that their teams could be the ones to capture the flag and make it back to the finish first! Everyone had an absolute blast! We then ended the night with Council Fire. The Challenge Teams were revealed, and both the Pines and Sands are so excited to begin this adventure tomorrow! We can’t wait to hear all about the amazing experiences they will have!

This was an amazing first week of camp and we are psyched to see all the good that unfolds throughout the next three weeks.
